How it works
What is an unsecured business term loan?
An unsecured term loan gives you a fixed amount up front and a fixed repayment schedule, usually weekly or fortnightly, over a term you agree at the start. Because there's no property securing it, lenders look at recent bank statements and turnover rather than a valuation, which is why the process moves in days rather than weeks.
Most lenders will take a director's guarantee and a general security agreement over the business, but your home stays out of it. For amounts under about $150,000 a decision often comes from bank statements alone.
Who is it for?
- Businesses trading at least six months with consistent revenue
- Owners who don't want to put a family home on the line
- Anyone who needs a decision this week rather than next month
- Businesses whose assets are already committed elsewhere
Common uses
- Covering a cash-flow gap between invoicing and payment
- Buying stock ahead of a busy season
- Funding a marketing push or a new hire
- Paying down an ATO debt or clearing supplier arrears
- Fit-out or refurbishment costs
